At MSA Karting, we pride ourselves in creating equal and fair opportunities in a sport driven by passion and competition. We embarked on the 2023 season with a vision to further strengthen our core values as we continue to grow and create a fun, family-friendly and healthy environment for all of our competitors.
In terms of technical compliance and transparency, we took the initiative to run control fuel at the first round of the 2023 MSA Northern Regions Championship, which took place at the Formula K Kart Circuit on 18 February. The process worked well and competitors were satisfied that an even playing field was created.
In addition to control fuel, a total of seven engines were also impounded and inspected after the event to determine if the engines were compliant with the MSA Karting Regulations.
Technical checks were conducted on the Mini Rok engines of Caleb Moss and Mattao Mason. Checks included: Squish, Port timing (including intake, exhaust and transfer ports), the coil cap, carburettor needle, atomizer, surge plate, engine sprocket and spark plug. We are pleased to confirm that both engines were found to be compliant with our technical regulations.

Checks included: Squish, Port timing (intake, exhaust and transfer ports), Cylinder head, exhaust manifold, coil caps, carburettor needle, atomizer, surge plate, engine sprocket and spark plug. Technical checks were conducted on the OKJ engines of Ntiyiso Mabunda, Torben Roos and Luke Hill. Checks included: spark plug, squish, port timing, exhaust manifold gasket, carburettor emulsion tube, carburettor needle, pilot jet, ram tube and engine sprocket. We are pleased to confirm that all engines were found to be compliant with our technical regulations.
The fact that not one component was found to be non-compliant clearly demonstrates the integrity of MSA Karting competitors and teams as well as the fantastic community spirit that has been created. We continue to strive to build the sport, creating equality and fair play across all age groups and categories.
