Diego Antunes, the 2022 Northern Regions Bambino Champion, will make his final appearance this weekend at the MSA Northern Regions ROK Karting Championship. The season will conclude with the final round of the competition at Vereeniging Kart Circuit.
Antunes had a mixed season in 2023, as he started competing in the Kid ROK class before moving up to the faster and more competitive Mini ROK class. As a rookie, he has focused on preparing for the upcoming 2024 season and hopes to improve his performance since his last outing. As a regular podium contender in the Mini ROK U/10 category, the Johannesburg driver will be keen on claiming his maiden victory this weekend.
“It’s the final round of the season, and I’d like to make it a good one. While I miss competing in Bambinos, nothing comes close to the speed and skills needed for Mini ROK. The racing is also super-competitive and a proper test of one’s fitness. I’m hoping we can still enjoy some track time during the off-season,” said Antunes.
Antunes thanks TrevPar World, Cars.co.za and the staff at the NBR Team for their support.
Race day will commence on Saturday with a Warm-Up and a Qualifying Session. Three race heats will conclude the day’s racing. Entry to the circuit is free, and spectators are welcome.
