After claiming the 2023 South African Mini Rok Championship title, Mattao Mason is ready to make the jump to OKJ next year.
The decision comes after a sterling set of results at the recent Rok Super Final held in Italy at the beginning of October. Mattao was the only South African driver to make it into the Mini Rok A final and was challenging for a podium finish before an on-track incident saw him pushed down the field. A testament of his dedication and talent in his chosen sport.
Although Mattao is just 10 years old, and the OKJ division is designed for drivers between the ages of 11 and 15, the RKT driver is focused on creating a career path and progression is the key. He is already hard at work in his new bigger CRG KT2 Junior kart and will be competing in both the 2024 South African National Rok Cup and Northern Regions Rok Cup championships.
Mattao along with his younger brother Maddox, the Mini Rok U10 Champion, will also be spending time racing in Europe in the ADAC Kart masters series in Germany and in WSK in Italy next year.
