Kid ROK racer Kayde Cornofsky triumphed at the weekend, beating out his rivals to top the national championship standings after four rounds. While he entered the final Vereeniging Kart Circuit round with a slight advantage, he wasn’t guaranteed the title, but a third overall finish would be enough to remain at the top.
As was the case throughout the season, Cornofsky would again battle championship rival Logan Billau for the overall spoils. While Cornofsky triumphed in the opening heat, he missed out in the second heat, finishing sixth. Immediately bouncing back, Cornofsky claimed another win in Heat 3, taking his victory column this season to seven. In the final heat, however, Cornofsky would crash out from the lead after contact with Billau to finish a disappointing ninth. But in the end, he did enough to secure the 2023 National Kid ROK Champion’s title.
“What an amazing feeling to know that all the hard work has been rewarded. While the racing has been frantic, my team has consistently delivered, allowing me to become champion. This title is as much theirs as it is mine because we win and lose as a team. Thank you to the Xtreme Racing Team and my family for their continuous support,” stated Cornofsky.
Cornofsky will return on 11 November 2023 for the final round of the MSA Northern Regions ROK Karting Championship scheduled at the Vereeniging Kart Circuit.
