This weekend is one of the most important in young Kayde Cornofsky’s short karting career as the young Johannesburg driver looks to claim his first national championship at Vereeniging Kart Circuit.
Competing in the final round of the National ROK Cup Karting Championship, Cornofsky heads up the Kid ROK championship by six points over rival Logan Billau, with the pair going head-to-head throughout the 2023 season. However, Cornofsky has had the upper hand, winning five of the last six race heats. Competing in the regional competition at the same circuit a few weeks ago, Cornofsky dominated the opposition, including Billau, to win all three heats on the day and prepare himself as best he could for the upcoming national.
“It is certainly going to be a nerve-wracking weekend for us all,” stated Julian Cornofsky. “Kayde has been in good form of late and will undoubtedly give it his all this weekend. He has one of the best teams backing him, and we are confident he can pull it off. He has worked so hard for this championship and would be a deserving winner. We are grateful for all the support he has been receiving so far this season.”
Friday will see a full day of practice with six 10-minute sessions spread throughout the day. Saturday morning’s Qualifying (09:20) precedes four race heats (10:40, 12:00, 13:50 and 15:10) before an overall round winner is declared.
