The final round of the ROK Cup National Karting Championship concludes this weekend, with the fourth and final round of the competition set for a Gauteng showdown at the Vereeniging Kart Circuit. Continuing his Mini ROK season is Cape Town’s Manelisi Nkomo, who will aim to make the best use of his recent trip to the circuit.
Nkomo participated at the recent Northern Regions ROK Karting Championship in preparation for this weekend’s national, finishing seventh overall, including a podium finish in the final heat. Ranked 11th in the national standings, Nkomo will have to improve on his best national result of sixth, that could see him elevate himself into the top five of the championship.
“Despite not having any chance of winning the championship, there remains the possibility of winning on the day. We had an excellent pace at Vereeniging the last time out, and we will look to repeat and even improve on it. So my focus will be solely on putting together a good weekend of results,” stated Nkomo.
Friday will see a full day of practice with six 10-minute sessions spread throughout the day. Saturday morning’s Qualifying (10:24) precedes four race heats (11:44, 13:04, 14:54 and 16:14) before an overall round winner is declared.
